How we went from crisis to clarity
What we did: Brand platform, positioning, and internal manifesto.
CrossFit had lost its founder and its way. After twenty years of revolutionary growth and then public controversy, thousands of employees were left wondering what they stood for. The brand that changed fitness needed to remember why it existed.
We stripped away two decades of accumulated complexity to find CrossFit’s essential truth: this isn’t about workouts; it’s about ownership.
“Own Your Health.” Three words that turned a methodology into a movement. Not “get fit” or “be strong”—own. CrossFit doesn’t give you health; it gives you the tools to take control of it, for life.
We captured that in an internal manifesto that turned employees into believers. No corporate speak, no mission‑statement gymnastics. Just the raw truth about why functional fitness matters and how owning your health changes everything else.
The result: a brand that stopped defending its methods and started championing its purpose. From crisis came clarity: CrossFit exists to help people own their health, and everything else (the boxes, the Games, the community) serves that mission.
